Interactive Handouts
Whenever a course is run, handouts are usually given to the pupils to take away with them for reference. Usually these handouts would have similar content to the overhead projector slides used during the presentation of the course.
Imagine how much more effective the handouts would be if they were interactive.
What do we mean by this? Using the pages of these handouts and a little imagination, we could cross reference all of the content in order to make the pages navigable (like a web site). Additionally, the content could be enhanced with video, photos, animation, voice-overs, music and even links to extra resources via the web. Email links to the trainers who present the course could also be included to allow for feedback, further questions or even to make requests for further courses.
At this point, all we have done is upgrade your existing handouts. Taking this a stage further, we can incorporate small tests along the way. (These could quite simply be the questions the trainer would ask during the course in order to establish that everyone was keeping up). The results of these tests can then influence the suggestions made to the pupil for further reading, (or re-reading of pages in the handout), what their progress should be from here or even suggested further training that they could arrange directly from within the handout via the web (this could include remedial training or progression to the next course in a series, etc).
A slight modification to this interactive handout could be made in order to upgrade the overhead projector slides used during the presentation of the course. This would then bring the lesson to life in the same way that it would bring the handouts to life.
NOTE:-The previous example requires very little additional input from the organiser of the course - most of the results are achieved from the handouts and course notes that would be produced anyway. |

These interactive handouts could either be issued on CD / DVD during the course or could be published to a Web Site and the address given out during the course.
Beyond Handouts
Detailed above is an example of what we can do to upgrade the traditional course handout. Imagine what we can do if we are involved at the planning and creation of the course content. At this stage, we would almost certainly recommend that you consider adding Interactive Video to the training course. See Interactive Video Training for more information about this service. e.g. the addition to the handouts of video of the presentation of the course.
